Factors affecting my consumption

Weather influences

Please bear in mind that heat consumption is affected by various factors. Weather conditions, such as cold periods and frost, can lead to higher consumption. Even when you are not at home, heat may still be consumed if the thermostat is set to a minimum temperature to keep the property at the desired temperature. As a result, the actual costs may differ from expectations.

We are happy to think along with you about ways to save on your costs.

General points to consider

  • Take weather conditions into account. More heat is needed during cold periods or frost to keep the property comfortable.
  • Even when you are not at home, heat is often still consumed if the thermostat is set to a minimum temperature.
  • Check your consumption regularly via the customer portal. This allows you to identify any changes in good time and manage your consumption more effectively.

Saving on heat consumption

  • Lower the thermostat by 1°C. This can already result in noticeable savings on heat consumption.
  • Only heat rooms that are actually being used.
  • Keep radiators and convectors clear of furniture and curtains so that the heat can be distributed more effectively.
  • Close the curtains as soon as it gets dark to limit heat loss through windows.
  • Ventilate briefly and thoroughly instead of leaving a window ajar for a long time.
  • Check that doors and windows close properly to prevent unnecessary heat loss.
  • Put on warm clothing before turning up the thermostat.

Saving on hot tap water

  • Take shorter showers. Every minute less spent showering saves hot water and therefore heat.
  • Use a water-saving showerhead.
  • Do not leave the tap running unnecessarily while brushing your teeth, shaving or applying soap.
  • Do not use more hot water than necessary for small amounts of washing-up.

note: Cooling

In many buildings, cooling is only available between May and October. The switching times for this are determined in consultation with the building owner.
